Beginning of May

May started off busy!  Ayden celebrated his summer birthday at school.  I made whoopie pies to take for his birthday treats.  Ayden got to wear a crown and blow out candles on a pretend cake.  Joel was even able to take off work for a little while to come for treats at preschool.

Ayden got a huge black eye when he was trying to balance on a cement paver and lost his balance and hit his cheekbone on the corner of the sandbox.  This is about 5 days after it happened.  It looked much worse than this!  Of course a week after he did this we were scheduled to get family pictures taken by my friend.  She's is amazing with Photoshop though so was able to take his black eye out :)
We went to the zoo on Mother's Day.  I think everyone else had the same idea, it was busy!

Cael liked milking the cow.
I love this picture.  Cael is in the stage of not wanting to smile for pictures, so it  is rare to get one of him genuinely smiling lately.

Ayden had beach day at school and got to wear swimming trunks and take some beach toys to school.

I made the boys Elmo shirts for the Sesame Street Live show we took them to.  Cael wasn't cooperating for pictures at the time.
Outside before the show started!
Daddy and Ayden watching the show.
Ayden insists he is too old for Elmo and that Elmo is for babies, but he really enjoyed the show and was dancing to the music most of the time :)  Cael was a fan too, and did well sitting for the show, although he was a bit wiggly at times.

Carter's Birthday Party

We were invited to a friend, Carter's, 4th birthday party at Success Gymnastics.  It is a really fun place for a party, and the boys had lots of fun playing.  The foam pit was the biggest hit.

Cael loved the trampoline.

Ayden's favorite thing was jumping off the vault into the foam pit.

I think Cael misses going to Tumblebugs.  He had to quit going after breaking his wrist.  Maybe we will be back in the fall!

Playing games with the parachute.

The theme of the party was Angry Birds.  The decorations, cake, etc were awesome!

Reiman Gardens and Step into Storybooks

The boys jumping on the bells at Reiman Gardens.

Ayden and the lawn mower made of Legos!
Lego butterfly.
At the Ames High School they had an event called Step into Storybooks.  There were lots of different activities for kids promoting reading and staying active.  The boys had a blast!
The boys each got a small stuffed animal and were asked and shown how to take care of it and themselves and how to stay healthy.
Cael's turn.

Checking out a police car.
Ayden wanted to get in the ambulance and check it out.

Next up:  the fire truck.
