Water Table Fun!

Cael got a water table for his birthday because the one Ayden had when he was little stopped working. Both boys love playing with it!

The Boys

Making pancakes.

Cael's favorite toy. He loves to copy the animal sounds.

The boys love jumping in their bouncy house.

Brotherly love!

Fun with a new bath toy Cael got for his birthday.

Ayden's Friend

Our backyard neighbors have a granddaughter they have been watching everyday for the months of April and May. We recently started letting Ayden play out in the yard by himself, but it still makes me a little nervous. It's almost more work because I am constantly checking on him making sure he is there and not getting into trouble. One day Ayden was outside and the little girl and her grandma talked to Ayden. Her name is Ashley and she is about a year older (just turned 5). Her grandma was watching her everyday until Ashley's mom got done teaching for the school year. Ayden and Ashley became best buddies and she has a jeep she always drives around. The two of them would get out every toy in our garage to play with, ride around in her jeep, and play on her grandparents swing set. Ayden would talk about her all the time and want to play outside with her whenever he was inside. They had so much fun together. Now, Ashley is at home for the summer with her parents in Ankeny. It was a hard adjustment for Ayden with her not being around to play with anymore, but I'm sure she will be back to visit her grandparents sometimes and they can play some more. I know he is excited for preschool to start and hopefully he will make some more friends!

Cael Eating Cheerios

Cael decided to help himself to some Cheerios :)

Dyeing Easter Eggs

Ayden was really excited about dyeing Easter Eggs this year. He was also able to get them in and out of the dye by himself (well, for the most part). He had been asking constantly for the past month when the Easter Bunny was coming?

Concentrating...

Easter Bunny Breakfast

I took Ayden to the Easter Bunny Breakfast at Reiman Gardens the weekend before Easter while Joel stayed home with Cael. They had donuts, rolls, and fruit to eat and things to drink. After that we checked out some of the stations. Ayden loved petting the real bunnies they had there. He also decorated a cookie and got his face painted. They had an Easter Egg hunt too, which he was really excited about.

Petting the bunny.

There were tons of eggs, as you can see from the pictures below. You could collect as many or as few eggs as you wanted, and then turn them in for a goody bag where everyone got the same thing. For some reason Ayden decided he only was going to pick up yellow eggs, although I did see him grab just a few of different colors. Ayden collected a huge bag of eggs and had so much fun!

Picking up all the yellow eggs.

His bag of yellow eggs with a couple greenish yellow ones mixed in.

I made Easter shirts for both of the boys to wear for Easter.

Had to go back and hold/pet the bunny again.

Sitting still to get his face painted.

He got an Easter Egg painted on his face.

Cael's Reaction to Amoxicillin

Cael had been sick for over a week with a cold and it wasn't getting any better so we went to the doctor. He prescribed amoxicillin for Cael because he thought he could have a sinus infection. It was his first time taking amoxicillin, and he was fine the whole time while he was taking it. The day after he finished it he started getting little pink dots all over. I thought it was maybe heat rash because it was the first really warm day of the year. I called the First Nurse that night and she said it could be from the amoxicillin or from his one year vaccinations he had gotten less than two weeks before. She said to just keep an eye on it. The next morning he woke up and he looked terrible! I called the doctor's office and made an appointment as soon as they opened up. I wasn't sure what it was, but it didn't look good.

My poor baby...
The doctor said he thought it was a reaction to the amoxicillin and made a note in his chart to not prescribe him that or penicillin again. He said you can get a rash from it for up to 2 weeks after finishing the medicine. (I got hives from amoxicillin when I was a kid too, and haven't been able to take the medicine since.) I didn't realize you could have a reaction after you were done with the medicine either. He told me to give Cael some Bennadryl when he needed it and they rash should be gone in a few days. Luckily, it only lasted for a few days and didn't seem to bother Cael. It was a scary situation, though!

His rash/hives looked terrible!
